" Delta Blue's " is in reference to the multi shades of blue in this mammoth ivory. It came from the mighty Yukon Delta, near the village of Kotlik, where the salt water helped to create what this piece would look like.
The wood backing and, base, are from a piece of ziricote, that was originally from a rather poor carving of a grumpy Aztec god from Belize, worked over 30 yrs. ago. The wood, being a beautiful specimen, found its home with this sculpture.
The wood in the center, is African black wood, or Mozambique ebony.
